Sheriff’s detectives arrested a man and a woman for separate financial crimes in Caddo Parish this past week, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Sharay Johnson, 49, of Shreveport, was arrested for bank fraud after she negotiated counterfeit checks at several Shreveport and Bossier City bank branches. The total loss in Caddo Parish was $3,339. Johnson was arrested on Thursday on a warrant obtained by Detective Mike King.

In an unrelated case, Thomas Ledbetter, 37, Bethany, was arrested for home improvement fraud for failing to register with the state as a licensed contractor. Ledbetter entered into an agreement with a man to build an enclosed back porch. He was paid $9,000 and started the work but never finished. His failure to meet state requirements was discovered during an investigation by Detective Jeremy Edward. Ledbetter was also arrested on Thursday.

Both Johnson and Ledbetter were booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
